Lane brought his Mama and Daddy to our local nature center for an evening walk and a few family portraits!  He loved the attention, and especially enjoyed showing off his adorable new hat 🙂

Love and Weddings… S & T

Weddings are a fairly new venture in photography for me, but there’s nothing like the joy of celebrating the love of two people… and being able to capture that joy on the faces of the bride and groom is such fun!

Here are a few from an outdoor country wedding last weekend.  Extra thanks to the wonderful Clarissa of Clarissa Peterson Photography who was kind enough to join me for photographic support 🙂

Spring is for Foraging

Here in the Midwest, the early spring rains and warmer air temperatures bring out the tastiest little gems of the prairie’s woodland floor… morel mushrooms.  Having gotten my start mushroom hunting just last year, I’ve spent hours slowly and quietly searching – finding peace of mind and expanding my palate.  Below are some photos from our recent hunts.  If you want to know more about hunting morels, check out this great guide at Field and Stream.

Look closely... very close in color to the leaf litter, their texture is the only thing that gives them away.

Many times, the first morels of the season will be alone or in small groups. I was interested to see the tiny ones at the base of these 4 larger ones.

I couldn't help but fill this handmade bowl with our first harvest!
